And we’re back to Amsterdam! If you can’t tell, our trip has so far been a filled with art museum excursions, however, today we got a taste of something different.
I find World War II to be incredibly fascinating. Concentration camps, bombings, a secret annex. It is so sad that humans could be so cruel to one another, forcing people to go into hiding in order to survive for fear of torture and death. Yet, one inspirational young girl saw something different in people even during this horrific time period.
“Despite everything, I believe that people are really good at heart” -Anne Frank
Everyone should learn a lesson from Anne Frank. It is important to see the good in people, no matter how they might be treating you. That can be a challenge for some who look upon the human race with distain and disgust, who really are the people who need to learn that, so, luckily, there is another lesson to learn: count your blessings. If you’re reading this, there are very slim chances that you have not seen the outdoors for two years or are being taken to a concentration camp, but if that is you then my heart goes out to you. If not, you have at least one thing to be thankful for. I, for one, am extremely grateful to have such a loving and supportive family and the opportunity to see the world.
On a completely different note, I also came across a flower shop today with the most gorgeous tulips. This city is truly wonderful and I am falling in love with it.
Vaarwel from Amsterdam!
